LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) helps eligible newcomers improve English skills for daily life, work, and community integration.
What is LINC?
LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) is funded by IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada), and is a FREE language training program designed to help newcomers build practical communication skills for everyday life in Canada.
At CAM, our free LINC classes focus on real-world English that supports settlement, independence, and community connection.
Who can join LINC?
To be eligible for the LINC, you must be:
A permanent resident of Canada, a protected person (with Notice of Decision), or a temporary resident affected by the crisis in Gaza (showing "MOME2023" in status documentation until March 31, 2027)
18 years of age or older
Have valid proof of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) assessment at the required level of the class of your interest. The assessment has no cost for permanent residents and protected persons.
Note: Effective April 1, 2026, economic class immigrants are eligible for LINC for only 6 years after becoming permanent residents. Effective April 2027, this will be reduced to 5 years. (Economic class immigrants include people who arrived through Express Entry, the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), work-related programs (such as the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot, caregiver programs, investor or business programs, regional employment programs, etc.) or other similar programs or pilots.)
